Coming very late to this…

I was making do with XP 64, as my experience with Vista was a very painful handful of days…

Then I tried the Windows 7 RC. I switched my only partition at home with Windows on it (photography work) to it.

7 is not as maddening as Vista and still provides enhancements compared to XP64, mainly in the user experience.

Granted, the machine is a dual quad-core Xeon with 1 GB of RAM, 4x SAS in hardware RAID 1+0 and 2x Quadro cards in SLI, so the performance is quite good, I do not really feel like I’m wasting 60% of my hardware resources on the OS and its various band-aids (like the maddeningly dumb anti-virus).

7 is still not as good as a Linux desktop, but I need a Windows system…

I would have gone Core i7.

Getting rid of the Northbridge bottleneck is priceless. Then there is DDR3, true quad core with CSI, not a pair of dual cores packaged together and using the FSB to communicate, etc…

A real step-change in architecture providing way more than the 10-15% normally provided by an Intel TIC cycle.

thank you so much for all this feedback we have already started to address some of these in the next version of Seesmic, such as less screen real estate. we are considering all of your remarks one by one to improve the product.

Overall, yes things have changed in the Xoopit toolbar. They are still working on some of the things that I said about security but they are restricted in what they can do via the Google api.

I just purchased two terabyte hard drives, one from Samsung and the other from Western Digital. Both drives report as 931 GB by Windows. I also feel slightly ripped off. Both drives have been great, but I feel like I am owed 100 GB more.
